Site Layout
Below is an example of the layout used throughout the Contemporary Map section.
 

Legend

  1. Thumbnail preview of the map.
  2. Download options. The filesize is located beside each format, measured in kilobytes.
  3. Description of the map.
  4. Black and white versions of the map for easy use with black and white printers and copiers. Not available for all maps.

Download Procedure
Right-click on the PDF or JPEG link, and choose "Save Target As..." The option may be slightly different depending on your web browser.

File Formats
     If your wish is to view the map in your web browser, then the JPEG format would be the best choice (once you download and install Acrobat Reader, you will be able to view PDF files in your web browser by way of a plugin).
     For printing, the PDF format is optimal. To view and print PDF files, you must use Adobe's free Acrobat Reader. You may download either a Mac or a PC version by following the link below:

Guidelines for Map Usage

All maps on this site may be used free of charge, providing that two conditions are followed:

  1. If our maps are used in a publication, we must be cited as a the map's source. Also, of its use.
  2. Our maps may not be modified in any way

Loss of Quality Due to Format Conversion
     We have made every effort to preserve the original quality of our online products. Unfortunately, as in any form of digital conversion, a loss of image quality or minor displacement of objects is possible (typefaces and color information are common victims of this).      We have made every effort to ensure that our pages are viewable on any platform, any browser, and any resolution at or above 800x600. However, because our site employs javascript in several sections, you must have javascript enabled to take full advantage of our site.
