This is a collection of 1,612 Soil Survey Maps produced from 1899 to 1950 by the U.S Department of Agriculture. The vast majority of the maps are at a scale of one inch equals one mile (1:63,360). While the methodology for classification of the soils is obsolete, these maps are rich in cultural detail. The maps are provided courtesy of the Geological Survey of Alabama and Amelia Gayle Gorgas Library.
